Important: To run the command-line utility, you must use a root account.

For Linux;

sudo apt-get install likewise-open
sudo domainjoin-cli join Administrator
sudo update-rc.d likewise-open defaults
sudo /etc/init.d/likewise-open start
Then Log out... When logging back in, do:  DomainName\LoginName

For Mac;
sudo /opt/likewise/bin/domainjoin-cli join Administrator

Active Directory working with Linux/Mac OSX... Can't be better... Could it?

When logging in, remember to put the Domain Name First\ User Name
(Domain\User)  Then use the normal AD password for that user.

 (Note the New Lion version of OSX has domain tools built in!)
