The Search Bar in Google can do a lot of things, you can enter a word, or two, a phrase, or put the line in Quotes "Four Score and Seven" and it will pull up all articles matching that exact phrase.  But there are even more ways to search.

Site: (com, org, net, etc...) used it specifies that you only want sites with the specified domain type.
filetype: (xls, pdf, doc, etc...) to only return certain files
link: (Find linked pages, or show pages that point to your domain, great to find out if that advertising partner listed your site...)
define: (dictionary like return)
movie: (find reviews or show times)
weather (pulls the weather report for your location)
stocks: (find current stock prices)

Then there are active calculations, do math:  1+1 or advanced math with fractions 1/2 or power of (2^5 or 2**5)
Convert units (200 Euros in USD) or (150lbs in kg) or (35 in hex).
