Drupal 8 on Azure

Ubuntu 14.04

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade

sudo tasksel

LAMP

set mysql password

Test to make sure apache2 is working by going to www.localhost.com and seeing if the test page loads

Create mysql database

mysql -uroot -p

CREATE DATABASE drupaldb CHARACTER SET utf8;

GRANT ALL PRIVILIGES ON drupaldb.* to 'drupaldb'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'drupaldb';

flush privileges;

exit or \q

sudo mkdir /var/www/drupal

cd /var/www/drupal

sudo wget https://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/drupal-8.1.0.tar.gz

sudo tar -zxvf drupal-8.1.0.tar.gz

sudo chown -R www-data:www-data drupal-8.1.0

cd /etc/apache2/sites-available

sudo nano 000-default.conf

Example:

ServerAdmin email@domain.com

ServerName HostName

DocumentRoot /var/www/drupal

<Directory /var/www/drupal>

Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews

AllowOverride All

Order allow,deny

allow from all

</Directory>

Cntrl +X, Y, enter

sudo a2ensite drupal

sudo service apache2 reload

sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-auth-mysql php5-mysql phpmyadmin

Open browser and go to your website hostname/drupal, select the directory 8.1.0 and the install process will start

If you followed all that, now remove it all, it breaks.

sudo apt-get remove apache2 php5-mysql php5-gd libapache2-mod-php5 mysql-server

sudo apt-get autoremove

sudo apt-get autoclean

Print the query results via PAGER. print (\p) Print current command. prompt (\R) Change your mysql prompt. quit (\q) Quit mysql. rehash (\#) Rebuild completion hash. source (\.) Execute an SQL script file. Takes a file name as an argument. status (\s) Get status information from the server. system (\!) Execute a system shell command. tee (\T) Set outfile [to_outfile]. Append everything into given outfile. use (\u) Use another database. Takes database name as argument. charset (\C) Switch to another charset. Might be needed for processing binlog with multi-byte charsets. warnings (\W) Show warnings after every statement. nowarning (\w) Don't show warnings after every statement.
